This is a 4 hour, beginner friendly workshop where participants will learn basic handbuilding / sculpting techniques and make their own set of cutesy miniature food. Participants will also learn how to paint using underglazes and then paint their own. creations. The miniatures will be then be fired by the studio and can be taken home by participants within 10-14 days of the workshop.
What you will learn / take-away:
- Introduction to clay: understanding of the mechanics involved in working with clay.
- Introduction to hand-building & sculpting techniques
- Creating solid miniature sculptures from 2D image references
- How to add details to the form, to highlight features of the dish.
- How to prepare and use slip for adhesion
- How to mix & use underglaze as a medium and paint on unfired clay
At the end of the workshop, you will have sculpted and painted a set of miniature food items, which will be fired and ready to be picked up within 10-14 days.
Eligibility: Absolutely anyone who is curious about clay and/or hand-building/sculpting processes and enjoys immersing themselves into the process of making something beautiful by hand. You can be an absolute beginner and do not need any prior experience in art or ceramics.
Age limit: 10 years and above

- Unlimited clay usage at the studio
- Equipment usage: Hand building and sculpting tools which are property of the studio.
- Underglaze colours to paint miniatures

Timings:
- Saturday: 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
- Sunday: 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Terms & conditions:
- Missing the workshop: No refunds (partial or otherwise), rescheduling or replacement in any form will be provided if the student misses their booked workshop (with or without intimation), under any circumstances including personal/medical emergencies, accidents, and so on.
- Refund: Complete refund will be provided if you request to cancel your seat before 4 full days (96 hours) before the day of the workshop. After this date, refund will be provided only if your blocked seat gets occupied by a student on the waitlist or from your end. We will reach out to our database from our end to the best of our ability and try to fill the seat in your stead. However, if a replacement is not found, no refunds will be provided. There are no exceptions to this rule.
- Transferability: The seat can be transferred to a friend or family member.
- Postponement: The seat cannot be deferred to a later workshop under any circumstances. There are no exceptions to this rule.
- Course Flexibility: Participants are welcome to pick forms from the collection presented by the studio or alternatively make anything of their choice, subject to the instructor approving it, basis level of complexity in sculpting.
- Glazing of pieces: Your pieces will be glazed by us, in case you wish to have some of them glazed. Please note that the choice of glazes will be decided at our end to showcase your piece in the best way. We also will require approximately 7-10 weeks of time to glaze and fire your pieces. After we inform the students that the pieces are ready for pickup, the wares need to be picked up by students within two weeks time.
- Breakage: Although we take utmost care of our student-made wares, pottery can break due to multiple reasons. This is more of a disclaimer to make students aware of the fragile nature of ceramics.
